Found Something Worth Living For

My name is Decoriya. As some of you may know,Lupus is an inflammatory disease caused when the immune system attacks its own tissues.  It's just my luck that it can not be cured. There is no one that wants to be diagnosed with any disease.  When I was first diagnosed I was so afraid.

It was in, January 2007, I was 16 years old. I was still in high school, and I even tried to work. Honestly, that's the only way that I didn't think about it . Many people like a way to keep it off their mind. You having lupus can make and develop into many other things , such as  kidney failure, which is what I have. Instead of living a normal  teenage life , I had to live my life to maintain my health, and do something that Lord knows I HATE which is dialysis. I will have to for the rest of my life or until I get a transplant. You would think after being on it , or dealing with lupus for so long you would be able to cope better with it by now.  Each day only gets harder and harder, but it seems like every other day there's something new or something else is wrong , or hurting.  There may be days where you don't feel like moving a muscle , and then there might be days that every piece of muscle hurt .you just have to find your own way of dealing with it. As being young I really didn't get to enjoy my teenage years.  What really hit me the most was giving up something that I loved, basketball.  I always wanted to be like Candace Parker, but I realize that things happen in life. , that things can happen .  I was perfectly fine, and then all of a sudden, it felt like everything just started going down drain.  I was at the edge because I felt like it just wasn't fair . I still do think it's not , but sometimes life brings you surprises.  When dealing with lupus you have to have a strong mind, your support system is everything, and you got to have a backbone.  I found something to live for , and wake up to everyday.

I believe a weak minded person would've been gave up . People tell me all the time , they don't see how I do it. Living with lupus you could wake up with some rocky days, and some days you might even have days you wake up perfectly fine.

My advice to anybody that's develops lupus is never give up.  You don't know how strong you are, until being strong is your only choice.  Keep the faith never lose your hope.

  2. Such a beautiful testimony. I have family and friends who live with lupus. I knew sometimes they suffered discomforts but I had no idea the extent of the physical, mental, and emotional battles they fight daily.
I know your mom. She's a beautiful woman of faith. Looks like you have her strength and then some. I look forward to the promise in Isaiah 33:24 for my family and friends and now you. Stay strong!!

  3. Decoriya your words of strength and courage are so beautiful... To hear of your passing breaks my heart... I too am a Lupus fighter! I understood everything u said and where u were coming from... I know that u are now at peace... And pray for those u had to leave behind until u all met again... And, I will continue the fight for us as women and as fighters of this horrible disease and infliction that we did not ask for ... Rest well...
