I met my husband at a family function, when he came over with my cousin. I had moved out of town for college, so I had lost contact with a lot of people.

I thought he was the most beautiful man I had ever seen. He had the prettiest smile and green eyes.
I wasn't aware he was married until he propose to me, one year after what I thought was a relationship. With the feelings I had for him, I really didn't care, and I just wanted to be with him.

The first time I encountered the ex-wife was when we met her to pick up their daughter. If looks could kill, I would of died on site. Even with the hatred on her face for me, there was hurt in her eyes.

It didn't take hardly any time for the divorce to become final. We immediately got married, since I wouldn't allow him to move in with me until we were. The day we got married, she allowed their daughter to be present. It was a small ceremony with only close friends and family. Their daughter adored me, and I felt the same way about her. Whenever she would see me, her eyes would open wide, and she would have the biggest smile on her face. She would jump and giggle as I reached my hands out to hug or pick her up.

One day I remember, I had to meet the ex to pick up their daughter because my husband said he had to work late.  She really didn't make any eye contact with me until she saw the excitement on her daughter's face. After, I strapped her daughter in my car, she gave me a mean look again. As she walked to her car, she turned back to look at me, and said "you weren't the first person, he cheated on me with, but the first he married". "My daughter loves you, and for that you get a little respect." She then drove away. I didn't know how to feel. I had two different emotions at the time, hurt and anger.

After all the working late nights, I found out that he was cheating on me with a co-worker, and she is now pregnant. We are separated and I am getting a divorce.

I got hit with "he cheated to be with you, so what did you  expect". I guess I'm sure many felt I got what I deserved.

I am still in his daughter's life, when her mother contacts me through email me on social media. She told me how her daughter was crying to see me.  I asked her for forgiveness one day while meeting, her to take her daughter to the movies. She didn't reply if she did or didn't, but she did smile.  I had to start the process of forgiving myself because I was feeling at my lowest. As I look back on what I did, I was wrong. I asked God for forgiveness. I know I paid more attention to what I thought I needed, and not what God wanted me to do. I was living with regrets , but now I am learning from my mistakes.
